Quick Thoughts: What's the right amount to spend on SEO?

To be honest, we made our own Meyers Enterprises website in a few hours. Ironically, a sophisticated web presence isn’t an effective way to win customers for an advertising agency – go figure. So we just wanted something that we could stand up that looks fairly professional and wins the top organic spot for some of our core branded terms.

That said, we are bona fide experts in SEO optimization. If your business is in an industry that requires a highly competitive and sophisticated SEO presence, we’re here to help.

But like we said above, not every industry requires this. You could spend 24 hours a day, 7 days a week writing content for your SEO efforts. And you could spend hundreds of thousands of dollars a year hiring SEO experts to do the same. But at a certain point, you’ll reach a point of diminishing returns.

I’m planning to write several articles going in-depth on this subject. The real answer to this question for you depends on your industry and business needs. But for the majority of businesses, I can comfortably say that the answer to “What’s the right amount to spend on SEO?” is probably something like “less that you’d think.” And the basic optimizations that can get you in good position for your core brand terms are likely quicker and easier than you’d think.
